Loyalty has limits, especially when it comes with invoices.Military failures, particularly the loss of Normandy, reduced confidence in leadership. Nothing undermines authority quite like losing something important and calling it strategy.John's disputes with the Church created additional tension, proving that it is possible to argue with multiple powerful groups at once.
